In the last few days, I was reading Sheryl Sandberg’s book: Lean In — Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. (Thank you my friend, Vanessa for the recommendation!)
I am planning to write a separate post about the book itself, but one sentence of Sheryl resonated me a lot. She writes:
“Guilt management can be just as important as time management for mothers.”
I am sure you know this feeling.
I am not an exception either.
When I travel and leave my kids home — I feel guilty.
When I am with my kids instead of working when a critical deadline is getting critically close — I feel guilty.
When I fall asleep with the kids instead of spending some quality time with my husband or call a friend — I feel guilty.
When I have to cancel a meeting with a friend because of work or a sick child — I feel guilty.
I *know*, these things happen when you are a working mom with three young children.
But guilt belongs to our lives.
We have to learn how to deal with this feeling. This is why Sheryl Sandberg’s message hit me so much.
I have never thought about it, really.
But I’ve been doing guilt management, unconsciously.
Still learning, though.
